Eyes Wide Open

For Sale - Eyes Wide Open by Akhenaton from Clear the Decks.

Approximate Height - 17hh, Dapple Grey Thoroughbred Mare, 10y0.

Description - Through no fault of her own, Ash, a 10year old, 17hh, Thoroughbred mare, is up for sale.

Ash is an eye-catching, athletic horse, who although has had limited education and experience out, with the right person with the necessary time and effort, she could really show the full potential she has. For the almost 9 months that I have owned Ash I have taken her to The State Equestrian Centre and Brookleigh. She can get very anxious and distracted and hot when out, but once you are on her she settles down. The second time taking her to SEC I went with a friend and she was foot perfect when I was on her, jumping 95's with absolute ease, and really enjoying herself. I also took her to the Gidge training day where she performed really respectfully in her dressage, and had a ball out on XC jumping everything I pointed her at. Just from the few outings I have had with her I believe she will only get better the more and more exposure she gets as she did with me with only just a few outings here and there, and her anxiety will lessen. It's purely from the lack of exposure she has had. She is fine when she has a friend with her. When I have had Ash in full work she has worked her best, and she truly thrives off the regular work and this has been when I have been able to see the full potential she holds.

She has beautiful movement, with a rocking horse canter. Ash is still learning to jump and needs work in this area, but with the right person and correct training I think she absolutely has the heart for it. She's great on the cross country and doesn't blink an eye at anything and she loves trail rides, by herself and with other horses. She loves a good canter and I have always felt in control and safe on her out on the trails. She is also fantastic to ride bareback, as well as loving the water. Ash has a very sweet nature. She truly does thrive off full attention and being in full work, I find that when she is, she is a lot calmer, focused and relaxed.

She is easy as anything to keep weight on and looks fantastic all year round. She is great with the farrier, dentist etc. I would ideally like Ash to go to an experienced young adult/adult as although she is a safe horse, she needs the consistent work and an experienced, confident rider to bring out the best in her. I would like for her to go to someone who is in a quiet area as well. I really think with the right person Ash could have a promising future in the eventing scene.

All she needs is an understanding, patient, calm and committed rider who has the time and effort to put into her. She has a heap of potential and she is wasting away in the paddock with me as I just do not have enough time to put into her. She hasn't been in full work for a while, only just a few rides here and there over the last couple months, her price reflects this. But she is great and easy to bring back into work so won't take too much.
